Koziol and sustainability
Since 1927, koziol has stood for distinctive design and outstanding product quality. The company has been firmly rooted in Germany's Odenwald Forest for 80 years, and has always been committed to sustainable production methods that harmonize with the needs of our planet and its inhabitants. One guiding principle shapes all the company’s ideas and actions: sustainability. In line with this concept, everything is made at one location in Germany, from start to finish.
The entire production process takes place at the company’s home base, from the original idea all the way to the packaged product. Marketing, model-building, product development, construction, mold creation, production and distribution are all combined under one roof in Erbach. Every product meets the highest environmental standards in terms of material, coloring and manufacturing methods, and all the production processes are optimally keyed to conserving resources and energy.
koziols products are made exclusively of thermoplastics that are shaped by means of injection molding. In this method, the plastic granules are melted into liquid form at temperatures of 180°-250°C and then injected at high pressure into a steel mold. When the mold has been filled, its contents are allowed to cool and assume their final rigid shape. The mold is then opened and the finished item ejected.
As this method only entails a change in the aggregate state of the plastic, no gases or vapors are produced or released. Moreover, this procedure is also reversible, i.e. it can therefore be repeated as often as desired.
As a consequence, thermoplastics are completely recyclable. They are suitable for use as secondary materials and therefore form part of a meaningful and beneficial cycle of use and re-use.
As koziol manufactures exclusively in Germany, the entire production process can be seamlessly tracked and monitored. The pigments are all made in Germany – specifically for the types of plastic to be processed. All of the dyes used are officially approved and physiologically safe. This was confirmed by the German environmental magazine ÖKOTEST (11/2006) which reported on koziol's partition system FUSION and awarded the product its top mark: Excellent.
